Description:
Gabriel Balisong, an aged master of seductive charm and lethal brutality. Having lived for many a year beyond what is considered normal, Gabriel has learned much, and taught the same amount. His true origins are so buried in time it is easy to wonder if he was ever born, or has been around since the dawn of the world. A legend maker in his own right, Gabriel is attributed with starting various Greek myths. There are suspicions that Gabriel is somehow connected to other Ancient cultures, but there is little if any proof.

Gabriel is wizened and tough. Over the years he has studied many martial styles, and has become a master at some of them. He is quite deft with sword and staff, and has learned a fair bit about firearms since their invention. Last, but certainly not least, few normal humans can match him in hand-to-hand combat when in his prime.

History:
Gabriel's origins are unknown as they are based in antiquity and prerecorded history. Some people have suggested he might actually be a victim of a rather nasty prank played by a time/space manipulator, but no evidence of this exists either way, and Gabriel has yet to comment on the issue.

Some other evidence exists that proves Gabriel is in fact the same man in Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus, King of Ithaca. As well as being associated with other famous men through history. He was a leading lieutenant in many wars throughout history, but was not always on the historically just side. For instance he was involved in the WWII fighting in the Pacific on the Japanese side. However, he was also involved in the Underground Railroad, and helped spearhead an assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler.

This gives rise to Gabriel's moral and ethical beliefs. The man is decidedly not a hero, but does not seek to commit heinous acts for pleasure. He tries to ensure all of his actions can be properly justified, although he has been known to use flimsy excuses to kill people. Such is the problem with vampires.

The ability to absorb, store, and emit Life Force energy. The name is purely for style, as it is technically a sub-set of Life Force Manipulation.

Explanation
Essentially I went and labeled a collection of odd chemicals such as ATP and H2O with a nice splash of Sentience the integral components of generating Life Force. It's not really necessary to understand this but make me feel quite smart talking about it. Anyways, it's probably easiest to think about Life Force as an energy that interacts with all living organisms and allows them to function. Gabriel can absorb, store and emit that energy. Absorbing life force from other organisms causes them to dehydrate and loose cellular cohesion, typically resulting in death. Regenerative abilities obviously have a different effect than normal due to their bodies generating life-force.
*On a side note this is one explanation as to why Adam Munroe was turned into a pile of dust. Arthur Petrelli essentially did the same thing to him. After Arthur took his ability to generate life force his body dehydrated, and lost cellular cohesion.*

Another necessary definition is Maximum Human Potential. This grants him much greater strength and skill along with granting near-perfect senses that while not super-human, are beyond the typical skills of most people (seeing as most people do not train for the Olympics everyday). Gabriel's ability to store Life Force results in this ability being expressed, and is typical of anyone able to store the energy and has enough reserves to cause it to happen. Be aware that it is not typical of everyone with the ability, especially people that have just discovered their ability. The over-load of Life Force causes it to "leak out the seams" so to speak causing his body to develop on its own. Once reserves are depleted or become too low the body will cease to keep itself at maximum potential. Essentially so long as there are enough reserves Gabriel will remain at peak performance ability and age, somewhere in his early thirties. As reserves dwindle he will succumb to dystrophy like everyone else.

Finally Gabriel is capable of healing other people and himself by flooding his or their body with Life Force and causing their cells to regenerate at an exponential rate. Doing so requires releasing a great deal of stored energy and conscious effort to begin. Healing other people requires more energy than healing oneself. Under this framework Gabriel's blood does not contain Life Force energy like a regenerative ability would, and therefore his blood does not heal people.

Limits:
Maximum Human Potential:
While he has a decidedly spectacular enhancement to all of his bodily functions, none of them are super-human. A very good explanation of the limits of this ability can be said by simply asking the reader to take a look at the Guinness Book of World Records. The maximum amount of weight lifted there is much less than that of a typical car, therefore Gabriel is unable to lift a vehicle.
Healing:
Gabriel is capable of burning his reserves of life-force at an incredible rate, to an extent that he can heal from life-threatening injuries in minutes. Fatal injuries cannot be undone, as concentration is required to begin the healing process. It requires more energy to heal a cut on someone else than it would with the same wound on himself.
Life Force Manipulation:
The extent of his manipulation is minimal. He must have physical contact to begin the absorption process. That is he must touch the person but, he need not make skin to skin contact. Gabriel can also reverse the process and give people life-force, initiating a healing process in them.
