Jack has always kept his past shrouded and has only ever told Riley about it. He was raised an average kid. The only thing different about him was that he was smart. He took a lot of self-defense classes liked to read a lot of war books. He was raised by both parents and has one sister. In school he was always by himself and had only one friend whose identity is unknown. He started to date her as they left high school and they went to the same college. Just before Jack graduated, she and him broke up. Jack started his life as your average Joe. Until one night when he was attacked by a group of thugs. He fought back and ended up taking out two of the three attackers. After that, people started following him and stalking him. Every gang in Chicago wanted him for taking out the men. He was stalked by them and finally decided to do one job. He liked the feeling of the kill. He liked it so much that he wanted out. He went back to the boss that hired him and killed him as an out. Little did he know that another man had other plans for him. The man took his girlfriend hostage and killed her to anger Jack. He ended up recruiting Jack, telling him that the guy he would be killing was the murderer of his girlfriend. Jack learned the truth a little too late. He went after the real killer and missed the kill. He had acquired a taste for kills and promised himself that he would stop as soon as the last man was taken out.

I. Chicago

Jack had a tradition. He kills his boss after every kill. With this pattern... Jack hoped to one day have taken out everyone who knew his identity. He was strategic and very withdrawn from the world as he had always been without his best friend. His kills were silent and well thought out. He usually targeted when his victims were drunk. One one particular kill night, he had gone into a bar afterwards and knocked a guy out who had been harrassing a woman. He left that night unknowing that she would end up playing a large part in his life. After taking out his boss from that night, he moved onto another. The name on the list read "Rose." It took a long time to find her... and she only found him because she was looking for him. The two of them tried to kill each other but ended up teaming up to take out the present threat: The girl Jack saved in the bar. After getting rid of the other two, the two proceeded to try and kill each other again. They ended up teaming up when the others became troublesome again. They framed Aly for being the Rose murderer and eventually became partners. The team traveled to Philadelphia to take out Chris Campbell.

II. Philadelphia

Inside the Triggs Tower, Riley and Jack proceeded to finish the Campbell job. After a long scuffle, Riley had he chance to kill Chris, but the gun was empty. She proceeded to try and commit suicide... but Chris ended up saving her. Jack and Riley left the tower that night feeling a bit closer than before.

III. San Diego

The team arrived in San Diego to complete another job. It ended up going bad and Riley was captured. After waiting for a while, Jack decided to go in and try to rescue Riley. He was met by Kelly Bourne and Chris Campbell. Together, the group rescued Riley and Shawn Pent. After Shawn was shot, Kelly, Jack, and he traveled outside to get the car ready. However, the police were on their way and Jack feared being caught. He tried to ditch the group but ended up being shot by Kelly, fatally. Upon saying goodbye to Riley, Jack realized that he needed her... and he saw her as he had seen his best friend all of those years. And he finally knew her real name. When Kelly left, she rewound time and Jack woke up just after the cars carrying Riley, Chris, Shawn, and Kelly drove away.

IV. Jack's time without Riley

Jack had gone back to Chicago a week after Riley left. He was determined to find her, but knew it would not be easy. He killed several people for money towards trying to find her. His life was identical to that of his previous one before Riley. The only difference was that he had a goal this time. It took a while, but he managed to scrape up Kelly's address and he went to find her. Kelly gave him a little information, but nothing really useful. Finally, her name popped up and Jack headed to the Northeast where he was determined to find his best friend.

V. Northeast US

Jack arrived at the correct house when there was no one home. Only... he was not alone. There was another man there who was determined to kill her father. Jack and the man got into a fight but the man ultimately killed her father and fled. After a rushed reunion between the two, Jack and Riley set off to find the murderer. They did not have any luck. Jack and Riley caught up and soon afterwards Chris Campbell showed up. He was not himself... even remotely as Jack remembered. They got into several fights and one ended in Chris fleeing after almost hurting Riley. Riley decided that they needed to follow him and they ended up back in San Diego.

VI. San Diego

In San Diego, the two went after Chris who was causing mass destruction in the city. Riley begged and pleaded with Chris to stop what he was doing. Jack did not see that happening and he saw Chris as a threat to the only person he had on the planet. He shot Chris that day with a gun he recovered off a secret meta agent. He shot him in the heart and Chris Campbell fell backwards off of the bridge and to his doom in the waters below. Riley did not see this as a heroic act however... she was overwhelmed with anger and sadness. She left. Jack practically reverted back to his old ways.

VII. Chicago

Jack headed back home but eventually decided that the only way to get Riley back was to stop being JR. He had to clean his record and the people in Chicago knew that he was weak. He left and decided to make two more kills. He killed an old threat (Mitchell's father) and the man that had taken his first best friend's life. Then Jack headed back to Chicago to finish his enemies off there. That night he received a call letting him know that he had till midnight to leave. Jack stopped at a bar on his way to take out the last of his enemies. Then Riley showed up. He found her later in an alley and the two of them began to talk. They both agreed to stay friends despite what had happened. Soon after however, Alyssa and Andy attacked and a fight broke out. Drake, Jack, and Riley versus Alyssa and Andy. Riley ended up killing Alyssa, an exact repeat of Jack killing Chris. This was a moment which contributed to their string friendship... their weaknesses. Then Andy showed up and Jack and Riley teamed up against her. They left Chicago without too much damage done. Their next stop would be helping out the five year old whose parents' lives Jack took.

VIII. Northeast US

Mitchell was hard to convince to come with them after they finally found the boy. He did however and Jack got to take part in his safe return to his aunt, somewhat redeeming himself. After that his next stop was the Blue Hills Compound where he and Riley helped take out Kain. Jack put three bullets in the nutjob's head. Their relationship was finally back to normal. And to top it all off... they were free at last.

IX. Las Vegas

The two of them thought a reward was in order for finishing another set of heroic duties. They got a hotel in Las Vegas and proceeded to gamble... when suddenly Riley passed out. They rushed to the hospital when the city's power went out. Accompanied now by Scott Lewis, the two of them tried to get the generator in working order only to be met by none other than Andy Wood. She attacked them and shot Jack. He ended up having to go into surgery suffering his worst wound to date after his fatal shot to the stomach. Riley and Jack knew that Andy was not going to leave them alone unless they did something big to her... kidnapping her brother. After coming face to face with another old victim and after a nice argument with Riley, Jack and the gang were on their way to find Durrick Wood. Arriving back in Las Vegas with the kid in hand, Jack and Riley phoned Andy with the news and she arrived as bad as ever... but with a twist. Suddenly everything got weird. Two mystery "friends" of Riley's showed up to help with Andy. These friends were from the future and they were here to stop the destruction of everything they knew in the future. The two revealed themselves to be Mitch and Isabelle from the future. Chris's daughter, and the five year old Jack helped. They asked for Kelly Bourne's number and he passed it on and the two. Then they left them alone. They sat around all night watching movies and then finally falling asleep as a storm persisted outside. The next morning, they were both awakened by a man breaking into their hotel room. He took Riley's blood and aged her fifty years in the process and slowly leaving her to die. Jack beat the crap out of him and proceeded to hold onto Riley as she slowly drifted away but then, within a moment, the vampire man restored her life and Riley was herself again. Jack threw his gun out the window and asked Riley to promise him that she'd never die again. Then they proceeded to the casinos to gamble and then out to dinner, when a surprising phone call interrupted their night. It was Chris and he was sending them on yet another mission. Looking up the place he mentioned, they found a picture of a man that looked just like him. And this place was in South America.

X. Abaddon Prison

Arriving in the desert after an adventure in South America, Jack and Riley were much closer... closer than ever. They had realized their true feelings for each other and they were in love. Along with Isabelle, the two of them broke into Abaddon, found Chris, and ultimately came face to face with the man behind the terror: Carvel. Chris killed him, and the group proceeded to find ways to stop the nuclear missile headed for DC. Riley and Chris left to stop it and Jack helped the others fight through against an army. In the end, Mitch, the flying man, saved Riley and Chris after they used the plane to crash into the missile. Then they headed to Las Vegas once more.

XI. Las Vegas again...

The threat was not over, as during the fight, 50 dangerous metas escaped the walls of Abaddon Prison. However, during this time... Riley broke some news to Jack that made him rethink everything. She was dying; of cancer. But she did not want to be saved. She just wanted to continue the fight. However, Jack and Chris together knew that they were going to try to save her. No matter what.

XII. Pittsburgh

Their search led them back to the east and Jack knew that Riley was dying. They spent her last night in the hotel room, relaxing. They agreed that getting married seemed to be what was best for them. And so Jack toyed with "Riley Raiden" but they both agreed that they liked Walker better. Then they decided that eloping would be the way to go. The weather forecast predicted snow. The young couple continued to talk throughout the evening but then tragedy struck. Riley died there in that hotel room that night. They never got married. Jack left that night without any plans of doing anything anymore. It was over.

XIII. Jack's Travels

Two months after Riley's death, Jack resurfaced again. He wore glasses and now had a beard, but something else was different about Jack Raiden. He talked more, he wore a softened expression, and his sadness and hopelessness was apparent. He signed on, working for a man heading the Abaddon Prisoners search and since then, he has been hunting them all over... just waiting for his chance to die.
